Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
An animated movie of the first story arc from Superman/Batman is being made and judging from the trailer, it may be the most loyal adaption of a comic yet. They even captured Ed McGuinness's art style. (Fitting, since his critics often called him "cartoony.")

It looks good. Very good.

A Guy and his G'nort
The newest episode of Brave and the Bold is on Youtube and features two of my favorite Green Lanterns: Guy and G'nort. I really like they have handled the Green Lantern Corps Like many of the B&tB adaptions, it captures the sense of wonder and fun that the comics have (or had). Best of all it pays homage to my favorite comic fight of all time.

Star Trek: Enterprise
I just started season 3 of Enterprise and while I can see the drastic change in tone they have done for the third season, I can not yet see why so many people seem to have disliked the show. Season three is the season that people seemed to like least, but I still am finding it better than Voyager was. I am guessing that a lot of people dropped it in the first season when it was still finding its footing. Sure, there were some bad episodes of the first season, but besides the original Trek, I can't think of a Star Trek series that didn't have a slow start.

DC Universe vs Mortal Kombat
[info]partywhipple linked to the full trailer for the MK vs DCU video game. Wow. Everything I had seen before made me start thinking that the game might not suck. Now I think it will be pretty damned good. I haven't seriously played a Mortal Kombat game since the Super Nintendo MKIII, but I am so looking forward to kicking some Mortal Kombat butt with Superman. You know that I will probably play primarily as Supes until I beat it with him, don't you?

Movie Reviews: Zombie Grindhouse Double Feature
Grindhouse: Planet Terror- I HATED the Quentin Tarantino half of Grindhouse, so I was expecting less than I normally do from Robert Rodriguez, despite him being one of my favorite directors. (Desperado=classic) I should have known better. This is one of the coolest schlocky action flicks I have seen in some time. This was the kind of movie I wanted when I rented Starship Troopers 3 a while back. It has plenty of big action, an insane premise, crazy-cool dialogue and Rose McGowan as the sexiest ex-stripper-turned-zombie-killer ever. The grainy film quality and all the little touches they added to make it feel like some old film reel that has been passed around from Grindhouse theatre to Grindhouse is a nice touch and constantly reminds you that you are not supposed to take this movie seriously....and hopefully you won't. Go in expecting what it is: Rodriguez doing what he became famous for: making a cheesy-cool action movie on a small budget. Rating: 4 out of 5.

Planet Terror International Trailer
Rose McGowan's pole dance from the beginning credits- No nudity, but I still would not recommend it for work. Sexy.
Escaping the Zombies- I gotta agree with the person who posted this. This was one of the funniest bits. (Spoilers, obviously- When they survivors head out, the macho hero is looking for a vehicle to ride...and gets a pocketbike)

George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead- The newest Dead movie is not nearly as good as the old ones. It does have a neat premise though. It is basically "Cloverfield" in the "dead-verse" as a group of college students keep a video diary of the events happening around them as zombie-pocalypse begins. Sadly, it didn't have much interesting outside of the premise and all the acting was pretty lame. Rating: 2/5

The Batman/Penguin debate
The Adam West Batman TV series did a pretty good spoof of the McCain/Obama debate. Penguin's imitation of McCain is eerie...and 40 years ahead of its time.

Spider-Man 3: How it Should Have Ended
The guys who made the How it Should Have Ended shorts have a new one: Spider-Man 3, which makes fun of many of the plot problems in the movie. I just watched Spidey 3 earlier this week, having not bothered seeing it in the theatres after hearing the reviews. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and Flavia actually said it was her favorite of the three. It felt a lot like a connected series of TV episodes dealing with seperate plots 20 minutes at a time, instead of a movie, which was fine by me. (For example, the first 20 minutes deal with the fall-out of Harry finding out Peter is Spidey at the end of the second movie, then you go into the rise and first defeat of Sandman, while hinting at Venom who is not seen until later in the movie, and so on with each plot getting focused on for a short time until they all come together for the ending which could have been a "season finale.")

Anyways, I liked the movie. I liked the parody I linked above even better.

For those of you who missed it before when I posted it, here is the How Superman Should Have Ended, their parody for the 1979 movie.

Gojira!
I've been watching Godzilla videos lately, pondering the possibility of running a game based loosely on the Godzilla universe at Ambercon NW with players taking the roles of an elite giant monster hunting team: The International Giant Monster Defense Force!

In my "research" I found a few neat things. In the American Godzilla movie (which I re-watched and found as bad as I remembered), the ship attacked by Godzilla in the beginning is the Kobayashi Maru. Star Trek fans will recognize the name as the test in Star Trek II, but I found something else that connects it back to early Godzilla. The pilot that does the suicide run against Godzilla in the second movie is Kobayashi. (Maru is a common word added to the names of ships in Japan.) It leaves me wondering if the writers of Star Trek II were Godzilla fans.

The other thing I found was this fun video of Godzilla clips set to Numa Numa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGGWgp5_UhQ
