Erick Wujcik has passed on. http://www.palladiumbooks.com/press/erickwujcik.html
I've met Erick on several occassions but never gotten to share more than a few words and a handshake with him. He always seemed like a nice guy and from what many people I know who knew him have written, he was as nice as he seemed. I do not know what waits after we leave this world but if it fits how we lived our lives, it sounds like he will be in good shape in whatever is next.
Erick Wujcik was the first game designer whose name ever stood out to me. It wasn't for Amber, believe it or not. It was for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I started gaming with Palladium Games, particularly Heroes Unlimited. While I couldn't stand most things about the system, I remember that the character generation used for Mutant Animals in HU and TMNT was wonderfully brilliant and I remember thinking that this Wujcik fellow really knew what he was doing. I payed special attention to all of the Palladium books from him and, again and again, I found him to constantly provide good game ideas.
I wish I had gotten more time to talk to him and gotten to know him as others but I always met him at Ambercons or other Amber-related events (including one wedding) where plenty of people who already knew him were busy talking to him. He seemed to have a lot of friends and I think that is the greatest sign of a successful life. I know that he will be missed.

Brave New Savage Land: A Deleted Scene! A special bit of nano-fanfic for the players of Brave New Savage Land at ACNW 2007:
Superman woke up, his head a cloud of pain. He felt like he had gone five rounds with Doomsday again*. His left eye swollen shut and burns all over his body**, he struggled to look around. Spider-Man was there. In the distance, a giant man in purple armor and helmet was getting de-pantsed by Lobo as Godzilla bit the giant on the neck. He looked the web-crawler, "Wh-what happened?"
"We had a team-up. You were great."
*He did, last issue. He was just unconcious for the whole "fight" while Doomsday beat on him. -"Neato" Nuadha
** The burns are from way back in Brave New Savage Land #1, when Godzilla blasted him with his "breath cosmic." -"Nifty" Nuadha

Ambercon Northwest: Part One of my review I got back from Portland late Monday night. This year was the third time I have attended ACNW and, like both times previously, I immensely enjoyed the entire convention. Every game was fantastic. Hanging out with folks between and after games was even more fantastic. For those who are interested, there are more details behind the cut.

Roleplaying- ACNW I'm having a really rough time deciding what I want to do for the ACNW Dreaming City game. I've got a few ideas, but since I had a couple of "Brave New" games that I was very excited about and wanted to run both and I was already dedicated to run the pr0n game with nakedvillainy, I'll only be running one DC game this time and I have a lot of ideas but none are particularly screaming to be done. I may just submit a generic Dreaming City write-up and wait until I see what characters are there before deciding which plot to run.

ACUS 2007 in review I had a great time at the con. My games all went well, even if none of them were home runs. I enjoyed great company all weekend. Certainly, my favorite part of the cons these days is catching up with friends.

Top Five from sirriamnis Top Five Canon Amberites:
I actually can't stand most Amberites. I love the setting and cosmology of Zelazny's world and can't stand the characters. Over the years, I've attached more to roleplayed versions of the characters in this order:
1. Caine- I like him. I can't help but like a character who is willing to do anything he has to to achieve his goals.
2. Dworkin
3. Merlin- Really. I never read any of the Merlin books, but I've enjoyed playing him in several games.
4. Benedict
5. Llewella- Because she is such a mystery.

Anoki speaks I was going back through some old gaming e-mails and read something from one of my e-mails that I am actually amazed that I wrote. I was channelling some cool energies when I was playing Anoki answering a question from another PC, Cambria (played by Jennifer C. (now Z.)and now I find my own words (or my character's words) offering me exactly what I need to hear right now:
"What is there to hold onto, Anoki? What is there that's true?"
"I am not sure that I have lived long enough to know that. A wise man once said, that the truth is like the wind. You can not see it but you can see the effect it has." Anoki leans towards Cambria. "The four seasons go through their cycle year after year. Lakes and rivers freeze each winter and thaw in the spring. All living things eventually die, that is inevitable. Change...is inevitable. That is a constant."
Anoki places a hand on Cambria's shoulder. He knows that this is not the simple answer Cambria may have been hoping for. "The truth is for each person to discover on their own. It is the result of the trials and errors of life. It is the lessons we learn. I can help you to find the truth. I can point you in the right direction, but I can not tell you what is true."
Someday, I hope to find a game to play Anoki in again as the game he was in fizzled out before I got to play him much. In that time, however, I did have some of my favorite play-by-email experiences ever with J.C/Z. and Anton N..
