Stone Watch 2008
Day 4
No stone yet. Today has been a series of small bouts with nausea and pain. None of the pain was too bad, but some of the nausea was rough.
For those of you who asked about the process where they use soundwaves to break up the stone, I had asked the Urologist about that and he said that it is too late to do that on the 6mm stone because it has already passed from the kidney and the x-ray has a tough time seeing it after that. Now, I would need to have surgery that involves sticking a tube up my urethra to attack the stone with lasers. As for the 2mm stone still in the kidney, that one is too small to use the process on because x-rays have a tough time seeing any stones under 4mm and they need to see it with an x-ray instead of the CT for the procedure.
Flavia found a possible homeopathic remedy online and I tried it tonight. It involved drinking a small cup of Olive Oil and a small cup of Lemon juice. In theory the lemon juice's acid will work on the stone while the oil lubricates everything. Some stone sufferers have sworn that it works whithin 12 hours. So far it has just intensified nausea. Olive oil is pretty gross when you are drinking it straight.
